Clan: Kaguya

Skills: Ninjutsu [Novice], Taijustu [Novice], Bukijutsu [Novice]
Appearance: Torak is a wiry teenage boy standing at a respectable height of 6 feet and 1 inch. His body is sinewy and tough, a product of long, hard days of physical training since practically the day he could walk. His light silver hair is neatly brushed out of his face and cut to a degree that it wouldn't interfere with his vision when moving at high speeds. His eyes are deep sapphire blue, and always seem to be sharp and alert to his surroundings.
As for his standard attire, Torak often prefers function over fashion, and wears tight-fitting utilitarian clothing to maximize his range of movement and prevent them from being caught on anything during an infiltration. His boots are normally caked in snow and mud, while his gloves are worn and well-used due to extensive combat.

About You:
Brief History:
To understand Kaguya Torak, one first must understand a little of his history. Torak was born to Aldur Kaguya and Misa Karasu. His parents were both highly reputable Jounin, masters of their craft and legendary in their power and efficiency. The pair had worked together for many years on many battlefields and had slowly fallen in love. The elders of both clans saw immense potential in the culmination of both the Kaguya and Karasu bloodlines, and eagerly endorsed the marriage. The Kaguya and Karasu plotted behind the scenes, dreaming of the child that would result. After all, a child that inherited the Visual Prowess of the Karasu, combined with the incomparable close-range power of the Kaguya would be well-nigh unbeatable!
The problems began almost as soon as Torak was born, not even letting out a hoarse cry, but instead lying silently as if dead. It was eventually determined that instead of inheriting the power of both bloodlines, Torak had instead acquired only Shikotsumyaku. However, on top of this failure, the residual Karasu DNA within him had altered him, preventing his body from processing the extra calcium resulting from his bloodlimit like it was supposed to. In short, the experiment was a failure, and while his parents both tried to hide their disappointment and loved him all the same, the young Kaguya could still feel their shame.
Personality:
If one were to describe Kaguya Torak in a phrase, it would be “closed off”. As a result of the circumstances of his birth, the expectations for the Kaguya were impossibly high from the very start, resulting in condemnation from both his peers and his elders. There was always a sense of “you should have been superior” hanging over the boy’s head as he grew up, and the only way the young Kaguya could deal with such a thing was to withdraw into himself to escape the harsh looks and disappointment.
This has led to Torak becoming extremely withdrawn, not speaking more than a few sentences at a time, and certainly not more then was necessary. The Kaguya never puts himself forward, always mutely accepting any punishments that come his way without so much as a word of objection and refusing any rewards with a simple shake of his head. It is as if he truly feels that he does not deserve any happiness that comes his way, even though the source of his shame was something far beyond his control.
There are a few areas, however, where Torak stands out. The Kaguya is extremely intelligent and was always near the top of his classes without any seeming effort. He probably could have been the top student of his year at the Academy but did not like the spotlight. The Kaguya applies this intelligence both on and off the battlefield, inventing innovative, brilliant strategies on the spot in one moment and reading a dense philosophical treatise in the other. This has led to him diverging from the standard archetype of the Kaguya berserker in combat, as he much prefers to slowly pick away at his opponents before moving in close range for the kill.
Torak does, however, have major flaws. His entirely selfless goals often lead to him single-mindedly pursuing a goal until the very end, refusing to be turned away from it or discouraged from it if he thinks it worthwhile. He will even severely compromise his own safety if he thinks it will assist the Kaguya in some way, often displaying suicidal dedication to a cause. In addition, his closed-off nature makes it somewhat difficult for him to navigate complex social situations, and he will often struggle in such situations.
Torak’s goals are relatively simple, especially considering the lofty goals some other Ninja set for themselves. The first thing he desires is to advance the interests of his clan in whatever way he can, no matter the personal consequences. This desire is primarily born out of his desire to “repay” his clan for his “failure” and is something that is nearly all-consuming. The second is to excel in his role as a ninja of the Hidden Mist to prove that he can prove an asset to the Kaguya, even without the eyes of the Karasu.

Rain resounded across the rooftops of the Hidden Mist, gurgling as it ran into gutters and across gutters and into drains. Some of the droplets, however, missed the dark houses and tall circular buildings, and instead fell into a large courtyard, the centerpiece of a large manor house near the center of the village.
Torak Kaguya stared up at the blackened sky for several moments, feeling the rain impact his face and watching the lightning play across the clouds before returning his gaze to the other Genin across the courtyard from him. The boy, Konoye was his name, was heavily built, with powerful shoulders and harsh beady eyes. When the two were compared side by side, Torak was almost comically small in comparison.
And yet Torak had been instructed to win at any cost.
Torak’s foot slid across the wet stones, snapping into place as the Kaguya entered an en-garde stance, his reinforced wooden blade held high, it’s tip pointing at his foe. The larger boy, a cousin of Torak’s on his father’s side, simply sneered at the slight youth, hefted a heavy wooden club instead. A cloaked figure on the side of the sparring field raised one hand, high in the air, looking back and forth between the two Genin. “Are you both ready?” The man shouted over the pouring rain. Torak and his foe both dipped their respective weapons in response, eyes locked on one another. The Kaguya’s breathing was deep and even, inhaling deeply, then exhaling for an equal amount of time. “BEGIN!”
Even as the last syllable left the judge’s mouth, Torak was already moving, his form blurring as he liberally poured his stamina into the Shunshin no Jutsu. In a flash Torak struck three times, high, then low, then high again. The larger Kaguya, stunned by the extreme burst of speed, just about managed to deflect the first two attacks with his heavy club, but the third streak smacked him straight across the forehead, sending the larger boy reeling!
“Point to Torak!”
The Kaguya backpedaled, exploiting his smaller size to gain some distance through quick steps and a backflip. Konoye growled as his foe retreated, pursuing Torak with great lumbering strides, swinging his club in a devastating overhand blow, sure to severely damage the Kaguya if it landed. With cat-like agility, Torak dodged the overhand, side-stepping neatly to the side and stabbing the hard tip of his wooden blade into Konoye’s side, hard. However, before Torak could retreat once more, the larger boy’s lashed out with his right elbow, landing a devastating strike to Torak’s nose. Stumbling backward, Torak’s held his nose, feeling hot blood course across his hand from his bloody nose, the heat a counterpart to his cold, rain-soaked skin.
“One point to Torak, Two points to Konoye for drawing blood!”
Now on the back-foot, Torak desperately retreated backward, barely managing to parry each crushing swipe of the club with his comparatively tiny weapon. Every time he attempted to chain in a punch or a kick, Konoye simply blocked with his own strike in return, each time causing stinging pain to reverberate down Torak’s limb.
The Kaguya swung a powerful sweeping strike to the larger boy’s leg, only for Konoye to reverse his blow with uncharacteristic speed, causing the club to sheer through the light wooden sword like it was made of paper.
Discarding the now useless hilt, Torak just about managed to catch the heavy wooden club as Konoye lifted it up once more, fastening his hands just above the grip of the massive weapon, struggling to rip it out of his foe’s hands. The two Genin stared into each other’s faces as the brutal contest of strength, one that the larger Konoye was sure to win!
With the last of his strength and chakra, Torak focused a good bit of his remaining energy into his leg, launching a devastating stomp at Konoye’s ankle, feeling the joint crack slightly from the sheer force of the blow. Even as Konoye’s grip slackened as he howled in pain, Torak hefted the club and swung a powerful horizontal stroke into Konoye’s side, sending the larger boy sprawling and sending him falling onto the wet cobblestones, defeated.
Dropping the war club, and ignoring the judge’s declaration of his victory, Torak hobbled over to the covered bench, holding his nose in one hand and grabbing his cloak with the other, moving inside the Kaguya compound to his quarters. Once he had shut the door, locked it, and had retrieved his medical kit, then, and only then, did Torak allow himself a small glow of satisfaction. He had done as the elders had instructed him, even if he had been wounded in the act. He would improve his reactions and strength, so the next time they fought, he would not embarrass his elders by sustaining even a single injury!
This he swore to himself.
