Name: Shiranui
Nicknamed: The Splitter Sword Style
Rank: E
Classification: Bukijutsu | Sword Style
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Varies by user. The faster one is, the further their attack range extends. It's typically characterized by how far a person can move within a second.
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
Suzuko Senju developed this style after a few run-ins with some samurai factions. Though a skilled swordsman himself, Suzuko was unable to keep up with their Iaijutsu, the art of drawing and attacking with one smooth motion. This made them incredibly fast and difficult to handle. While Suzuko was not able to learn Iaido himself, he took some traits from it in order to develop his own style, which he envisioned to defeat Iaijutsu.
Rather than rely on drawing speed to power the blade, this style uses movement speed directly. Users will start in one position and wait for an enemy to step within their effective range. For most, this is the distance that they can cover within one second. With the enemy in range, the user will dash at top speed in one direction. Upon reaching the enemy, the user will not slow down, but instead cut with their blade, using the momentum of their intense speed to sever most foes in one cut. Following the cut, the user continues to travel until they are safely out of the opponent's range. This makes the technique very difficult to counter, even if one is swift enough to avoid it. This is known as the Splitter Technique. Higher levels of this attack receive various monikers, from Leaf Splitter at the lowest to Light Splitter at the highest.
Though typically employed with one sword, so that the user can safely attack the opponent from an adjacent position, it is possible to use two swords for a frontal assault. Continuing the dash beyond the target becomes much more difficult, as the target will now be center to the user's path.
Those who use this style can do so at one of three levels, depending on their skill with Bukijutsu:
Novice: No Changes.
Adept: +1 Tier to Coordination, can use two swords.
Expert: +1 Tier to Coordination and to Movement
Drawbacks:
This style focuses on single dashes devoted to single attacks. If an opponent avoids or survives it once, they'll be more ready to react to it the next time. Its legendary equal is Iaido, which can draw with as much force and speed to safely block the attack.
Name: Leaf Splitter
Rank: D
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Varies by user. The faster one is, the further their attack range extends. It's typically characterized by how far a person can move within a second.
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
This is the first and primary technique of the Shiranui style. Suzuko named it Leaf Splitter because the first trial run of it saw him cut a leaf in two by incident. With his village ties, it seemed fitting. Unfortunately, announcing the name of this technique one too many times resulting in him receiving the title "LeafSplitter".
Once the target is within range, the user rushes at full speed and places one well timed swing on any part of the target's body. Ideally, the sword will cut through whatever it comes in contact with, allowing the user to deliver a potentially lethal blow and move well past the impact site without any trouble. This depends on many factors, of course, and does not always go as intended.
Inflicts D-Rank Damage to the Target.
Drawbacks:
As the lowest level Splitter Technique, this requires only D-Rank Movement. Depending on the user, it may be very easy to block or dodge. A well timed and placed block can stop the user in his tracks and prevent escape. A well timed dodge can allow the target to escape range before the user realizes.
Name: Tree Splitter
Rank: C
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Varies by user. The faster one is, the further their attack range extends. It's typically characterized by how far a person can move within a second.
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
The advanced form of Leaf Splitter and Suzuko's primary Kenjutsu. Tree Splitter earned its name by reportedly cutting a large, old tree trunk clean in two when Suzuko missed an enemy.
This technique operates in the exact same fashion as Leaf Splitter, but with more power. It is able to cut a tree in two, reportedly, so is capable of taking more durable opponents than the base technique.
Inflicts C-Rank Damage to the Target.
Drawbacks:
This has the same weaknesses as Leaf Splitter, but will be harder to block or dodge, as the level of Movement required to use it is C-Rank.
Name: Stone Cutter
Nickname: Stone Splitter
Rank: B
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Varies by user. The faster one is, the further their attack range extends. It's typically characterized by how far a person can move within a second.
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
The only technique that Suzuko decided to name before he started really using it. At the time, his cutting techniques were only considered to be a part of the Shiranui style, without any notable differences between them. Eventually, the power differentials became clear and the different techniques earned their names. So though the third technique in succession, it was the first named, at a time when Suzuko preferred cutter over splitter. Despite this, this jutsu is still called Stone Splitter more often than Stone Cutter.
The higher level splitter jutsu, this technique is for the more difficult opponents, or when Suzuko simply does not want to hold back. It's rumored to be able to cut through solid stone as thick as massive boulders, but this has never been proven. It is on the more powerful side, as there are very few people to have survived this jutsu and even them only by dodging. A direct hit usually means death, due to the sheer power.
As part of the Splitter series, this jutsu is characterized by a high speed rush with only one attack, poised to cut the target in two.
Inflicts B-Rank Damage to the Target.
Drawbacks:
As with the other splitter techniques, this can be blocked by a capable opponent, but it is recommended that the target choose to dodge. Difficult as that may be, moving quick enough in a direction perpendicular to the user's path has worked in the past. The use of this technique requires B-Rank Movement.
Name: Air Splitter
Rank: A
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Varies by user. The faster one is, the further their attack range extends. It's typically characterized by how far a person can move within a second.
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
A technique that is, at present, only theoretical. As far as Suzuko has progressed with the sword, he has only revealed the Stone Cutter in battle. This technique goes even further and is named not by an object it can target, but by what it does in transit.
Supposedly, the cutting sword moves so fast to slice through its target that the air parts around the blade. This gives the sword a hazy white aura that arcs with the blade as an afterglow and creates a sharp boom as the air collides into itself past the back end of the blade. Because the motion of the cut is performed so quickly, the sound only administers once and very quickly, like a miniature sonic boom. If performed correctly, a target may not even see the blade swing or the user approach; only hear a boom and realize they've been split.
As part of the Splitter series, this jutsu is characterized by a high speed rush with only one attack, poised to cut the target in two.
Inflicts A-Rank Damage to the Target.
Drawbacks:
A-Rank Movement is required to reach the level of speed required to properly administer the cut. The prowess of the target often determines the effectiveness of this technique; if the target is fast themselves or has sufficient tracking, they will be able to perceive the attack in time and, if their own speed is sufficient, can react to it. A well placed block or dodge can render the cut null, forcing the user
Name: Light Splitter
Rank: S
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Varies by user. The faster one is, the further their attack range extends. It's typically characterized by how far a person can move within a second.
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
Like the Air Splitter, the Light Splitter is a technique that has not yet seen the light of day. Unlike its predecessor, though, it is something that may never actually be employed, for the level of speed it requires is quite supernatural, even by ninja standards.
It begins as does all Splitter techniques: the user positions their weapon for a single cut and rushes towards their target. Once in range, typically within a second, the user will administer a single cut designed to cut the target in two.
What separates this from the other Splitter techniques is that it has an added effect even more impressive than the Air Splitter. Not only does the air bend around the blade's edge, but even light itself. With that one powerful swing, the user's blade becomes shrouded in darkness and trailed by hazy smoke and distortions of light, confusing any with the capacity to see it in motion.
Like the Air Splitter, this technique does invoke a loud boom as air and light collide as one at the trail of the blade's swing, leaving in most cases only that indication that an attack was even launched; a sound that simply means it is already too late.
Drawbacks:
S-Rank Movement is required to reach the level of speed required to properly administer the cut. The prowess of the target often determines the effectiveness of this technique; if the target is fast itself or has sufficient tracking, they will be able to perceive the attack in time and, if their own speed is sufficient, can react to it. A well placed block or dodge can render the cut null, forcing the user

Name: Reverb
Rank: D
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Melee
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
This is a supplementary technique of the Shiranui sword style that allows for the repetition of the famed Splitter techniques. Once the user completes a splitter rush, he can use this technique to collide with a fixed object, such as a tree or rock, at the end of his rush and immediately reverse his momentum to begin another rush. This allows for the use of what Suzuko calls "Double Splitter" techniques, such as the Double Leaf Splitter, for when the target either survives, dodge, or blocks one Leaf Splitter, so Suzuko uses another in quick succession with this technique to attack the enemy. Because of the innate swiftness of the splitter techniques and the instant reversal of this one, the user's target is likely to be caught unaware and, more importantly, unprepared for such a quick follow up.
Instantly reverses user momentum.
Drawbacks:
A fixed object is absolutely required to use this technique. Otherwise, the user has nothing to bounce off of and simply continues forward or must slow himself to a stop. This technique has no offensive or defensive purposes on its own; it merely allows a quick setup for a follow-up technique.
Name: Reverb: Shred
Rank: C
Classification: Bukijutsu
Type: Martial Jutsu
Range: Melee
Hand-Seals: None
Description:
An advanced version of the Reverb technique, this jutsu allows for repeated rebounds from the environment to employ multiple uses of the splitter techniques without the need for recoil or recovery. In essence, the user can use a splitter rush to attack the enemy, then bounce off of part of the environment to immediately use another splitter rush to once more attack the enemy. This process then repeats over and over again, creating, in its ideal form, a blur of trails from the user's movements while he cuts the target to ribbons with untraceable and innumerable uses of splitter techniques. Effectively, the target is shredded.
Reverses the user's momentum as many times as desired.
Drawbacks:
The primary drawback to this technique is its limited use. An environment must be ideal for its use, with solid, fixed objects all around for the user to rebound from. This would be in the middle of two or, preferably, four solid walls/buildings, a thick forest, etc.. The shorter the distance between the objects and the closer the target is to the center of them all, the better. This makes for faster rebounds, which means faster splitter cuts. It can also be used in wider spaces, but it's preferable when the user can close the distance between two rebounding objects in two seconds or less, with the target in the middle. The faster the user, the more environmental variety is acceptable.
The secondary weakness of this jutsu is its cost. While it allows for virtually limitless rebounds, it also enacts the cost of the Splitter Technique used with it for every rush. So when the first rush is launched, a cost is incurred. The user then rebounds and incurs another cost and so on and so forth, until he becomes completely exhausted. On tougher targets that require higher level (more costly) Splitter Techniques, this jutsu can become terribly expensive to the user's Stamina.
