About You: Izumi graduated the academy several weeks ago. Since then, he's experienced an entirely different level of dedication than he'd known prior. He was a bright kid growing up, catching on to whatever was put in front of him with superb haste. The problem lay in his forward thinking. He had none. His perseverance was unthinkable; any obstacle placed in his path was absolutely overcome without hesitation. However, with no clear and present goal set before him, he stagnated.
One might think that the parents in a clan regarded as supreme in a combative ninja world would work tirelessly to hone their children's latent talents. One would be wrong. Izumi showed such early talent that his parents naturally assumed that he'd be fine on his own while they diverted focused into his younger siblings who had less natural ability. It's not a terrible assumption. Most elder born of the Uchiha had unrivaled drives. Izumi was simply one of the exceptions to this.
As a graduate, he was near the top of his class. His scores were flawless, but he never went above and beyond. This left room for his peers, especially those of similar talent, to overtake his position at the top come graduation day.
Since then, he's been assigned a sensei with a particular disdain for any semblance of laziness. To this particular Jounin, Izumi reeked of stagnation. He began placing tremendous burdens on the boy, obstacles akin to mountains which were not to be moved. Though it took time and ferocious effort, Izumi overcame them.
Eventually, Izumi's sensei realized that the problem wasn't a lack of ability, effort, or even motivation. It was guidance. The remedy was very simple: arrange a series of insurmountable tasks to light the Genin's way.
The other Genin assigned to Izumi's squad afterward finally began to grow with him in camaraderie. Before, they saw the intense focus that Sensei put in him as nothing beyond favoritism. Now, they receive the attention they need. As a squad, they can begin forming a true team.
