"Alright, maggots. You completed your Preliminary Examinations without a hitch, but don't get too cozy," the instructor barked at them. It was finally that time. They had all trained so hard to get here. SHE had trained so hard to get here. Years at the academy full of boundless lectures, grueling physical examinations, and her own trials at home. All of these things had hardened them into the graduates (or rather soon-to-be-graduates) that stood here in this old academy building full of dust and with poor lighting. The Preliminary Examinations were easy. All they had to do was perform the Academy-Level Ninjutsu without any difficulties, as well as pass their physical exams. The latter was a bit more grueling, but manageable. They had to basically participate in various drills to prove that they were in shape. Running laps, push-ups, wall-climbing, etc. Shizuka didn't find anything to be particularly difficult. She wondered how her fellow classmates felt. Where they falling behind, feeling winded? She hoped not. The purple-haired rookie was eager to prove herself and pass the last test. And she would pass the last test. "The Final Test will be a bit more challenging. The Sensei will all gather you around and assign you a partner, so gather around." WC: 209 Sorry about the short post! But I wanted to give you guys a simple introduction before we get started.
Basically I am DMing our Final Graduation Examination, which will be a 1v1 fight. When you join I will spawn a opponent for you at our level~
Let's have some fun!

As the grizzled instructor barked out their instructions, Torak Kaguya stood silently, to the left and slightly behind the purple girl currently ruminating about her prospects. His face was serene, his body supple and relaxed. In fact, the supposedly “grueling” physical examination the prospective Genin had endured looked to have barely made him break a sweat, as his traditional Kaguya battledress was as immaculate as ever.
Torak closed his eyes for a few moments, centering himself and allowing outside stimuli to fade away from his observation. The Kaguya had worked for years for this moment, endlessly training his body, strengthening his mind, doing whatever was necessary to prove himself to be one of the most dedicated students to ever pass through the Hidden Mist’s academy. Now all that was required of the Academy student was to overcome one more hurdle, one more trial and then the elders of the Kaguya would perhaps finally at least deign to acknowledge his existence. Torak cleared his mind, shoving aside the tide of doubt, and opened his crystal blue eyes once more. He would win, that he must believe.
The Kaguya would listen carefully as their instructor explained the challenge: they would be assigned another classmate at random, and if Torak was a betting man, he guessed it would be a spar. Kirigakure Mist may have progressed far past the days of the Bloody Mist, but he severely doubted this would be an entirely mental contest.
The Kaguya casually glanced around the area as he began to walk towards his assigned space, running through his exhaustive notes on his classmates. There were a few that would be threats, and a few that would not be. The one the young warrior was most worried about, however, was Shizuka Momochi. Shizuka had been a thorn in his side as long as he could remember, and while Torak was one of the most powerful students at the Academy, Shizuka was equally as skilled, perhaps even a little better. He would have to be careful if he was not to be overcome.

"...Hmm."
Juunko cracked just the smallest smirk on her lips as she watched the big bad instructor attempt to create intimidation among her class. If those that already began to feel their heart race, then she'd only hope how those same people would react if they were out in the battlefield; a battlefield with no rules, no proctors, and fighting but nothing for your life. Oh, how she'd pity the weak-hearted if they couldn't handle the pressure and consequences that came along within being a ninja. At the same time, she couldn't help but give them credit for stepping into a dangerous field. After all, despite its more violent and brutal past, the Hidden Mist village wasn't exactly the most forgiving or the place for any sort of sympathy.
Oh, how adorable was the instructor in trying to appear tough. She couldn't help but snicker quietly to herself while shaking her head. Of course it appeared she was too full of herself, but she wouldn't mind if someone called her out for it. Juunko was like that once; afraid, easily sensitive, extremely empathetic, and most of all, hid behind her parents wealth. Albeit she still brags about her status from time to time, Juunko has proved her worth in more than just materialistic value.
And she was just about to prove more of her worth by sparring with another classmate. It was a good thing she didn't arrive with any of her more expensive and stylish kimono. Juunko wasn't necessarily for such brutality, but she saw nothing wrong with the Hidden Mist Village's gory method of genin promotion. It was an efficient way of weeding out the strong from the feeble and the strong hearted from the faint hearted. In fact, it would be good entertainment from an outsider's/civilian's perspective. Oh, if only she could relive those "glorious" days where she could kill a parent's child to assert her worth. That, or at least witness those "glorious" days.
Now the question remained: who would Juunko spar with? Her dark gray eyes scanned the room for potential match ups before returning her gaze onto a wall and sigh. She'd admit there were those that knew very well what they were doing and others, well, the opposite. Juunko wasn't worried since she had confidence of doing well, but this didn't allow her to become so lax, either.
Whoever she would face, good or bad, she'll be sure to not hold back.

“The Last Test is very simple. You will fight one of the other students here one-on-one. A long time ago this test used to be conducted by the Blood Mist Village to harden the hearts of the graduates and prepare them for the rigorous hardships of everyday shinobi life. Therefore these matches were to the death,” he revealed to the class, only to be met with oohs and aahs as the students could feel the sweat coarse through them. There was a brief pause. “But since then we’ve cooled our standards a bit. We need a sustainable shinobi force, so we can’t afford to have you guys kill each other, haha. So these matches are nonlethal. You are forbidden from killing your opponent, however you must knock them out to succeed. Those who fail this test will have to repeat this process next year. Only the strong survive in the Shinobi World, so show us your strength!” Shizuka nodded, seemingly okay with this turn of events. She felt bad for having to beat on one of her classmates. But in the end she was doing them a favor. The rigors of shinobi life were not for the weak. If they could not beat her, then they would be dispensed of in the shinobi world. She readied her hand on the hilt of her sheathed katana. When the instructors paired her off, then she would be sure to cut them as carefully as possible. Meanwhile Torak and Juunko would soon find the sensei begin to give them designated numbers. “Those who share the same number will be paired to fight. We will do these fights one at a time. So keep that in mind. You will watch your other classmates duke it out silently. Cheering will only distract them and take away from the experience.” Shizuka: Match 3 Torak: Match 4 Juunko: Match 6 Random NPC fucks: 1,2,5

Torak nodded once as the instructor confirmed his suspicions of a simple 1v1 match were confirmed. The Kaguya was more than satisfied with this format: he fought in matches such as this almost every day after all, and he doubted many here could match him in hand to hand combat if he really pushed himself.
Which, of course, he would.
There was, however, one more question that burned in the young Mist ninja’s mind, and he raised a hand, “Other then the lack of killing, are there any other rules?” He queried, his voice even, almost monotone. Torak didn’t really care about the lack of killing, it only slightly changed his strategy, but if there were any more additional rules, it would be important to observe them as closely as possible. It wouldn’t do for the highest ranked Academy student among the Kaguya to lose to some random no-name prospective ninja, and the Kaguya himself was determined to be no less than perfect.
Flexing his fingers and cracking his knuckles, Torak carefully retrieved the folded slip of paper, opening it slightly and then quickly stuffing it an interior pocket, frowning. The Kaguya would have preferred to dispense with this in the first match, but at least waiting allowed him to view the powers of some of his other classmates. The Kagyua strolled to the far wall and leaned against it. Waiting.

If anyone noticed the other Genin who had passed the Preliminary examinations with them wasn't present or appeared to not be. Well, that because he wasn't. He had blended with the water source nearby using the bloodline limit abilty known to the Jonin instructors and most of his fellow classmates as the Water Hiden: Hydrification technique. He was in a nearby location though walking the cobbled stoned path. His water-bottle resting in his right hand as he takes a sip as the cool contents flow into his body, which kinda like a cloud, soaking up the nutrients that we take for granted everyday. It reinvigorated the dual bloodline holder's body. He had to be pick, this was an important day no less. He just wanted some choco-banana Pocky sticks before he went back. The black shades hid his greyish shark eyes from view as his long white hair feathered out down over his back.
"Should be over here, ah there it is."
The half breed noticed the shop up ahead, his smile exposing the rows of shark shaped teeth interlacing with raised canines. As he walked through the crowd he would leave people he walked past with a brief cooling sensation radiating off his body, he wore a light grey pair of shorts with which his left hand rested in his pocket. The right hand held the water bottle and you could see his wrist were wrapped with white tape. The plain white cut off short further exposed his pale colored flesh. A hulking cleaver sword which was massive in size was strapped to his back, the boy stood 5'6 as it is, which most of his relatives on the Hoshigaki side towering in at seven foot. As he approached the store front, he spots the pocky, reaching for it as he went to the shop owner to buy it. As the completed transaction finishes, Naitome spins on his pivot and starts a light sprint back toward the area. As he approached, he places the pocky box in his pouch, closing it tight. He starts to liquidize his body as his flesh starts to turn to water and drop to the rocks below, as he seeps into the water, floating along the top of the water blending into the cool waters of Kirigakure as he approaches back to the same rock area he had dropped in he overheard the Jonin speaking.
"The Final Test will be a bit more challenging. The Sensei will all gather you around and assign you a partner, so gather around."
The form of Naitome started to inch up the side of the stone, forming quietly into a puddle on the ground about three meters behind the classmate known as Torak Kaguya. The half breed would snicker at the idea of sneaking up on the boy asking him does he want some pocky. The thought was interrupted by the senior Jonin speaking, more as he remained a puddle remembering the idea was to sneak away unnoticed and try to arrive back unnoticed. He would listen, knowing each second he was gone longer than needed he would be noticed.
Only the strong survive in the Shinobi World, so show us your strength!”
So, we gotta fight one on one I see. I wonder which of these guys it will be. Ah man. Those thoughts danced through Naitomes mind as he spoke to himself, the puddle just chilling behind Torak unnoticeable unless someone was to step into the water puddle. The words of the Jonin would again entice the ears of the water puddle known as Naitome. They would cause him to snicker, as they were said out loud.
“Those who share the same number will be paired to fight. We will do these fights one at a time. So keep that in mind. You will watch your other classmates duke it out silently. Cheering will only distract them and take away from the experience.”
Perfect, he would wait merely to manifest. Who would he draw, he needs to appear so he can draw. He just realized he can't wait long, as the Kaguya in front of him raised his hand. The puddle would groan alittle not realizing he said it louder than he was supposed to. The monotone voice of Torak would should follow as he asks his question to the Jonin.
“Other then the lack of killing, are there any other rules?”
Great Naitome thought to himself. Not only do ya ask a good question, you have to ask it when I have to make it like I never left. I'm sure he already knows I'm gone by now. Dammit. The water puddle slowly started to slither away from Torak to make his way toward Juunko, the beauty of Suiton and Fuuton wrapped up into a explosive package. He wasn't sure if she liked Pocky or not. But, he also knew she was a serious one. This is perfect, as he inched three meters behind her. He would slowly start to rise the water up his body started to take shape, as his legs first, turning into his human form rather quickly. He would reach into his pouch grabbing the box as he would reveal its contents. His water bottle rested on his left waist as surely Juunko would feel the cooling sensation that his body radiated, as he would take a bite of his pocky stick, he would speak up, asking the question of Juunko in almost like a whisper to not be rude to the Jonin who may or may not be speaking at the time.
"Hey, want some Pocky? It's choco-banana?"
He would point the box with it's open side toward Juunko offering her a piece, his smile would reveal his canines as he closed his eyes. He wasn't too sure what his classmates thought of him. He hoped that despite his cocky disposition that his classmates seen him as a redeemable person despite doing things to gain attention. That was the loneliness of his childhood speaking. The immense pressure of two clans boring down on you to be your best while it seemed everything around you was falling apart. The shades hid his eyes from view though.

The instructor chuckled at Torak’s question. “Nope. No other restrictions. We have medical ninja on standby so we won’t restrict your method of combat. Otherwise this exam wouldn’t be fair. If you can’t tell how far to go in this fight, then you don’t deserve to advance. Some missions require you to take the enemy alive, so if you can’t restrain yourself from killing an opponent you’re just a loose cannon.
And those of you who aren’t combat-focused shinobi, like the Medical Ninja and the Sensors. You simply have to do the best you can. Even if combat isn’t your forte, do know that you will be forced to fight at some point in your life. So suck it up.
Anyways let’s get on to the first match ladies and gentleman. Kometsu Hozuki vs. Sanji Arata begin!”The two students walked toward the center of the class, which began to open up and reveal a pool of water. Both students immediately funneled chakra to the bottom of their feet, and readied themselves. This fight was gonna be a doozy. *
“WATER STYLE, WATER SHARK BOMB JUTSU!” The shout of the Hozuki as he fired a large Water Shark at the yellow haired academy student. It had been an insane first match up as the two fired Ninjutsu after Ninjutsu at each other. The water that surrounded them began to manifest itself into a powerful shark capable of devouring the average shinobi. Sanji flurried his hand seals and narrowly managed to create a wall of water around himself to block the attack. This was the best display they had showed yet, but now both of them began to pant from exhaustion. They had run out of chakra. Running at each other, they each threw a fist forward. Their fists crossed and collided with the other’s face with perfect momentum, digging into the cheekbone. The impact was so severe that both of them passed out, their bodies crashing to the floor with a loud thump. “Guess we have ourselves a tie. Interesting. I think the display was good enough to warrant a passing grade for both. Let’s hope the rest of you dumbasses prove to give us a fight this good.
Hana Nomura vs. Suzuki Hikawa, begin!”The two kunoichi stepped up to the water ring, ready for the next match to begin. Shizuka watched with expectant eyes. Hopefully this fight was more entertaining than the last one was. Watching two idiots spam Water Release until they passed out wasn’t exactly pleasant to her. She was surprised the examiners bothered to pass them. She wouldn’t have been so generous, that’s for sure. Hana was a tough cookie who specialized in Genjutsu and Ranged Weaponry. She wouldn’t be easily taken down by the Lava Queen Suzuki. But Shizuka had to admit that Lava Release was tough to beat. It’d come down to whoever landed the first hit really. Suzuki was bad against Genjutsu, and Hana had no defense against Ninjutsu. Shizuka wondered whose jutsu activation was faster.
* “And the victory goes to Hana! Nice use of Genjutsu, kiddo. I liked the way you made that girl scream.” It appeared that Genjutsu triumphed over Ninjutsu this time around, with a volley of shuriken in the legs and shoulders to finish it off. A fairly fast yet somehow entertaining spectacle for the Purple-Haired Demon. “Finally we’ve got… Shizuka Momochi! I’m excited to see this fight.
Shizuka is pairing off with Momo Kaguya. Let’s see a good fight here, girls!” The lot of them cheered as the two kunoichi entered the water ring next. Shizuka’s face was passive, stern, and cold as she made the wet steps toward the battlefield. Her purple eyes glimmered in the lighting as she readied her blade. Momo was also a bukijutsu specialist, but she utilized a different type of weapon. In her hands was a long kama, the lengthy scythe ready as rainfall for a storm. The two of them squared off… “BEGIN!” And it was over in an instant. Shizuka had already decided that this fight was gonna be a contest of speed. Whoever could outdo the other in an instant would be the winner of this fight, and go on to advance. With a rush of wind, Shizuka rushed into the battlefield. Momo’s strength was impressive, but this wasn’t a matter of physical force (rather a contest of speed and grace). As Momo swung her scythe across hoping to use its reach and power to cleave into the Momochi, Shizuka slid across the water maintaining her chakra control underneath the swinging scythe. From the ground, Shizuka reversed the grip of her katana and lunged it backward to stab the blade into Momo’s leg. The Kaguya screamed in agony, falling onto one knee. Without the strength to take the pain the girl went into shock. Meanwhile the Momochi stood up, reverting her blade back to its normal grip position. “Sorry.” Without another word Shizuka left the arena. It was clear that she had won the fight. The instructors were in awe of her reflexes and strategic positioning…. “Well. Guess that’s that. Next up is Torak Kaguya vs. Yashimaru!”Yashimaru was a fairly skilled user of the Water Clone Jutsu. He combined this with his Taijutsu in order to gang up on his opponents. Shizuka wondered if the Kaguya would be able to handle it. The Purple-Haired Boy suddenly began to walk up towards the Water Ring, ready to square down with Torak. WC: 937 OOC: I just wanted to skip my own fight because fighting myself is boring! lol Yashimaru is a Clanless Water Release User Ninjutsu Novice, Taijutsu Novice, Genjutsu Novice, Sensory Novice. I'll be RPing him for Torak now. Excited for a good fight bud~

The disappearance of Naitome Hoshigaki did not, by any means, go unnoticed. The Kaguya had taken notes on every one of his classmates’ special abilities and habits, and Naitome’s potentially troublesome bloodline limit was one of the first things he had noted down. It wasn’t exactly hard to figure out either: Naitome seemed to like to use it as a tool of convenience rather then concealing it as he ought. Torak wasn’t extremely worried about it, he was sure it could be countered with enough power and speed. And yet still, there was something about the Hoshigaki that made Torak scan the crowd one final time in search of him, only to find nothing.
The Kaguya inclined his head slightly to the proctor, “Understood, thank you.” He said softly and respectfully. It was a fair ruling; it would hardly do to have the world look upon the Mist village as a place where children slaughtered each other for support. In addition, such limitations would perhaps prevent those with powerful abilities from using to their fullest, deadly potential. Torak pursed his lips as the thought crossed his mind, looking down at his trembling left hand, then firmly stilling the reflex.
The first two fights of the exam barely seemed to interest Torak, even as the Kaguya boy watched through half-lidded eyes. The first pair were fools, wasting their energy on meaningless theatrics as they threw justu at each other. With the boys’ accuracy, it would have been quite literally child’s play to dodge between the attacks until the other ran out of chakra, but apparently such a thought was far beyond the pair’s capability. The second fight was even worse, with the Hikawa student not even bothering to deploy any countermeasures against the Nomura’s powerful Genjustu, and seemingly betting everything on beating the other girl to the punch.
Does nobody here understand the concept of strategy? Torak thought, annoyance slightly impinging on his consciousness. I thought this was supposed to be the next generation of Mist shinobi, not a bunch of fools with no idea of subtlety! The boy struggled to keep his face bored and neutral, but just about managed it. Hopefully I’ll get one that thinks of actually dodging a punch, it would be insulting otherwise.
The next matchup however, made the Kaguya perk up. Torak was very interested to see how Shizuka engaged Momo, especially in her role as a Bukijustu specialist. The Kaguya girl was fairly high up in the clan rankings as well, so if Shizuka struggled with her, Torak would know that she wasn’t a threat.
The match started, and Momo rushed in, seemingly favoring Konoye’s favored opener of a bullrush of strength and power! Torak watched closely as Shizuka beautifully executed the perfect counter, neatly hamstringing Momo with about as much effort as swatting a fly. The Kaguya’s eyes narrowed She’s good! She must have been practicing a lot since the last time we sparred. I need to redouble my sword drills. He thought, filling the idea away for later consideration.
Even as the instructor’s voice rang out above the sound of the rain, Torak was already moving, stepping into the water ring and taking a position facing the stands. The boy inhaled deeply, then exhaled, taking up the traditional Kaguya stance. Torak said nothing, merely watching his foe as he entered the ring…..

The other Genin said nothing in response to his offer of pocky, he would show his extended canines in a smile as he went back to chewing on the one he was eating, opting to listen to the one known as Torak Kayuga received the answer to his question. “Nope. No other restrictions. We have medical ninja on standby so we won’t restrict your method of combat. Otherwise this exam wouldn’t be fair. If you can’t tell how far to go in this fight, then you don’t deserve to advance. Anyways let’s get on to the first match ladies and gentleman. Kometsu Hozuki vs. Sanji Arata begin!”
Naitome sighed as he took another bite into his pocky, allowing the sweet treat to tantalize his taste buds, as he chewed he watched the fight between someone of his bloodline. The Hoshigaki half breed paid little to no attention to the match, as he just sat in the background with his shades on. With it ending in a tie, he scoffed from the back in disappointment that he shared a bloodline with someone who tied. He just watched the second match with little to no interest in that match either, Naitome was more curious who he was facing and when it was gonna happen. He was tickled in the fact no one noticed him leave and return, which in his mind made him wonder about these instructors in question. The mention of Shizuka's name made Naitome start paying attention, another match that ended quickly. She was fast, which caused Naitome to smirk, he would look over at Shizuka.
"Nice Match, Shizuka." He smiled toward her his exposed canines and shark teeth as he smiled toward, his eyes were still covered by his shades. He then took another bite of his pocky stick finishing the one he had. The following announcement perked Naitome up. “Well. Guess that’s that. Next up is Torak Kaguya vs. Yashimaru!” He crossed his arms over his chest as he watched with intent. Kaguya was an interesting breed of people to Naitome. He often wondered what the flesh of one would taste like, feeling his cannibalistic urges tug at him as he quickly erased the thought.

As Shizuka made her way back to her seat, she felt the eyes and stares of all the other students around her. Her purple eyes focused down at the soft watery floor, before she hopped into her desk and seat and sat down. Her eye briefly caught the gaze of Torak Kaguya, one of her opponent’s family members, in order to gauge his reaction. He seemed attentive at the very least, as she couldn’t discern deeper than that based off his facial expression alone. But at least the absence of scowls or glares meant that he wasn’t personally offended in any way. That was good. She didn’t wanna slight the Kaguya Clan. One of her other classmates, and an odd one at that, was Naitome Hoshigaki. He was a bit of an enigma as far as their year was concerned. As his shark teeth and shady gaze pointed at her, she merely offered a rather minimal smile from her lips. He complimented her on her match, which seemed like a genuine attempt at positive social interaction. So she responded in kind. “Thank you, Naitome. I’m sure your fight will be something to see as well.”As she settled into her seat, her stare returned towards the matches at hand. Who’d have thought Torak would fight right after her? He was a clear rival to the young woman, as his skill in close-quarters combat was a rival to her own (the two being similarly swift). The purple-haired girl shifted in her seat, leaned forward as she was adamant about paying attention to this one. Yashamaru was not a weak opponent by any means, so this fight would be actually very interesting. He used a lot of underhanded tactics based off her own few squabbles with him, as he specialized in distraction based tactics. His use of Haze and Water Clones allowed him to disorient one’s senses and allow him to strike at a foe from behind. An admittedly cheap but effective form of strategy. If he really honed his body and his skills then he could be quite dangerous.
The purple haired shinobi chuckled as he made his way down and into the arena. He looked a bit confident in himself as he stepped onto the watery ring where the pairs did battle. Torak of course shifted into a Taijutsu stance, awaiting for the instructors to ready the signal. “BEGIN!” they shouted, same as with the others. And with that Yashamaru weaved a set of two hand seals, the dog and the tiger, channeling chakra as the ring was suddenly filled to the brim with duplicates of himself therein obscuring Torak's vision with fakes he'd have to charge through. And with a singular hand sign, water clones emerged into the mix, rushing through the field to find Torak. Yashamaru made three water clones, each of which were imbued with 10% of his chakra. Yashamaru may not be as fast as Torak, but surely even he couldn’t take on three clones at once, right? He didn’t say a word, so as to prevent Torak from pinpointing his location via his voice. All Torak would have to go on was the sound of subtle footsteps as he tried to quietly stroll through the maze of clones while maintaining his distance from Torak's starting position. When the clones spotted him: One of them charged in first and went to tackle him. The other two ran around him to flank him from both of his sides, and readied stabs of the kunai they meant to lunge into his flesh. They specifically aimed for non-vital spots, but they were going for blood nonetheless. And Yashamaru? Yashamaru continued to move away to maintain his distance, like a good boy. WC: 631 OOC notes: Yashamaru used Haze Clone to create enough duplicates to swarm the arena, followed by Water Clone Jutsu. He had the water duplicates charge at Torak to jump him like they in the hood. The mirage clones are stationary however. He tries to maneuver around the edge of the ring to keep away from Torak who has to run through the mirages and search for Yashamaru to find him.
