About You:
Izumi graduated the academy several weeks ago. Since then, he's experienced an entirely different level of dedication than he'd known prior. He was a bright kid growing up, catching on to whatever was put in front of him with superb haste. The problem lay in his forward thinking. He had none. His perseverance was unthinkable; any obstacle placed in his path was absolutely overcome without hesitation. However, with no clear and present goal set before him, he stagnated.
One might think that the parents in a clan regarded as supreme in a combative ninja world would work tirelessly to hone their children's latent talents. One would be wrong. Izumi showed such early talent that his parents naturally assumed that he'd be fine on his own while they diverted focused into his younger siblings who had less natural ability. It's not a terrible assumption. Most elder born of the Uchiha had unrivaled drives. Izumi was simply one of the exceptions to this.
As a graduate, he was near the top of his class. His scores were flawless, but he never went above and beyond. This left room for his peers, especially those of similar talent, to overtake his position at the top come graduation day.
Since then, he's been assigned a sensei with a particular disdain for any semblance of laziness. To this particular Jounin, Izumi reeked of stagnation. He began placing tremendous burdens on the boy, obstacles akin to mountains which were not to be moved. Though it took time and ferocious effort, Izumi overcame them.
Eventually, Izumi's sensei realized that the problem wasn't a lack of ability, effort, or even motivation. It was guidance. The remedy was very simple: arrange a series of insurmountable tasks to light the Genin's way.
The other Genin assigned to Izumi's squad afterward finally began to grow with him in camaraderie. Before, they saw the intense focus that Sensei put in him as nothing beyond favoritism. Now, they receive the attention they need. As a squad, they can begin forming a true team.

It was the first day of training. Well, that wasn't really true. Arisa had been training ever since she was a little girl. The only thing that was different about today is that it was get first day training with her new squad. She knew thew other two people, Haria and Izumi, from class, but she didn't really know there sensei. He was a mysterious guy that looked super cute, but way too serious!
Arisa was the first in the training field, of course. She was always the early bird for every occasion. It was good to see that she was still the most punctual, even after everyone had become real ninja. She started to stretch a little bit, still not terribly sure what she'd encounter that day, when she spotted Haria. She waved and smiled. Haria responded in kind. They never really talked during the academy, being of two different groups, but she seemed really nice.
Izumi arrived a little later, after the girls had a chance to greet and small talk. As soon as he got within speaking range, Sensei walked up in front of everybody. How'd they miss a guy like that approaching? they wondered.
"Now begins the next chapter of your lives." Sensei spoke. His voice was only mildly deep, but it had a smooth yet gruff tone to it. The girls liked it, of course. All Izumi had on his mind was how he missed the greetings with his teammates. He hoped it wouldn't interfere with their team work later on. It would.
The first object of their training, as Izumi saw it, was a gauge of their abilities. Sensei had obviously seen their scores and read all the reviews from every academy teacher, but he wanted to see for himself where these Genin were and what they were lacking. That way, he'd be able to properly map out their progression for the future, while simultaneously fashioning them into an undeniable unit.
The girls started this test. Sensei told them to spar with each other. While they displayed excellent combative skills, it was very obvious that they were holding back. Neither wanted to cause any harm to their new friend! While Sensei appreciated that, he had to explain how holding back in a spar is actually more damaging to a person than a broken nose. Not only will they gauge themselves based on a lie, they'll fail to grow as they should. It could even be considered offensive to hold back, in some cases.
He had them start again, this time using all their strength. While they did, he initiated a spar with Izumi. He'd heard all about the Uchiha boy with perfect scores that liked to sleep in class and avoid participation. There was nothing Sensei hated more than laziness. While he did need to gauge the Uchiha boy, he really only wanted to put him in his place.
Through the little spar, Sensei caught sight of just the slightest glimmer of effort. Maybe this kid isn't all that lazy, he wondered. Before his and Izumi's spar reached a satisfying conclusion, he put an end to it. He'd been keeping an eye on Arisa and Haria and they were going a little too far beyond their limits. He didn't want them to have to skip tomorrow's training on account of overexerted muscles.
