Missions
Here on Naruto Genesis our Mission System is a bit more complex than the usual site. Most sites give you a WC requirement and a general mission prompt and leave you to fill out the blanks. But that gets a bit boring over time, as writers have to just take a generic prompt and do it. So we add something new to the Missions here!

DICE!

Yeah that's right. Dice determine the course of your missions. No you aren't rolling the mission success/failure. You're still roleplaying the Mission. But the Dice determine the situational twist and turns of the mission! It's a 1d6 Dice and each mission lists what each face of the dice does. Typically it works like this: the leader of your group has the responsibility of rolling on the dice icon in the site. You should see it among the many buttons of the site post editor. When they roll the 1d6 - the Dice looks like this:

1 (Critical Danger) = You've managed to find the worst danger you can on this mission. Whether it is a Boss Fight, a natural disaster, or a wacky circumstance that's thrown your whole mission off course!

2 (Major Danger) = Not the worst danger you can encounter but damn close. Either a bunch of goons, a major trap, a major disaster, or some other circumstance that's debilitated your mission.

3 (Minor Danger) = You encounter some minimal danger on this mission. Some scouts/goons, a weak trap for you to dispel, a beast coming to attack you, etc. etc. A minor hindrance, but one that must be addressed regardless.

4 (Minor Success) = You have begun the course to reaching the goal of your mission. Perhaps you finally found the right path to your destination, located a general direction of the thing you're looking for, or got sight of your quarry.

5 (Major Success) = You've become close to reaching the goal of your mission. Either you found a shortcut to shorten the travel time to a destination, found a major clue to the person/object you were looking for, or nearly caught your quarry.

6 (Critical Success) = You've managed to get to the goal of your mission. Whether it's reaching your destination, finding the person/object you were looking for, or catching your quarry.

When do I roll the dice?
Whenever you want! You can even forfeit the decision to use dice if you don't like it. The dice are meant to add a little bit of spice to your missions by letting the site take a little bit of control and making this feel more like a game than a big crappy fanfiction novel (not that I'm saying anyone's writing is a crappy fanfiction novel

).

Mission Ranks

D-Ranks
There are also D-rank missions, the lowest classification a mission can receive. These missions are usually assigned to genin. Many describe D-rank missions as not being actual missions as they deal with tasks as simple as finding missing pets and weeding a garden.

Requires 1000 Words per member in a group thread (or can be taken as a solo). Pays 10,000 Ryo Upon Completion per Person.

C-Ranks
There are also C-rank missions. These missions are usually assigned to chūnin, or in some cases, genin. Assignments include bodyguard duty and hunting wild animals, all of which will likely pose some risk to the ninja, albeit, according to higher-ups there generally shouldn't be a chance of combat against other ninja on these missions.

Requires 2000 words per member in a group thread. Pays 25,000 Ryo Upon Completion per Person.

B-Ranks
There are also B-rank missions. These missions are usually assigned to jōnin or chūnin. Assignments can involve spying or assassinations, and ninja are expected to go up against enemy ninja during the course of the mission.

Requires each Participant be at C-Level Minimum. Requires 4000 Words Per Member in a Group Thread. Pays 50,000 Ryo upon Completion Per Person.

A-Ranks
There are also A-rank missions. These missions relate to what is in a village or country's personal interests and are extremely difficult or dangerous to complete, usually assigned to jōnin. This could involve major stakes and as such is reserved for higher-level characters only.

Requires Each Participant be at B-Level Minimum. Requires 6000 Words Per Member in a Group (if PVE) . Pays 75,000 Ryo Per Person upon Completion. Some A Ranks however are part of STORY Events. See the next section for info on how these work. But basically Dice do not matter for Story Event A-Ranks.

S-Ranks
Missions can also be classified as S-rank, these are the highest paying and most dangerous type of mission a ninja can go on. These missions are exclusively assigned to highly skilled jōnin or large squads of ninja.

Requires a Target be at A-Level Minimum. These Missions are all tied to a STORY Event on the site. S-Rank Missions do not use the Dice System but rather are events occurring in a village as part of a Staff-Functioned Plot. You do not control the outcome of this, as Staff basically Dungeon Masters the event by playing the NPCs or circumstances opposing you. You must overcome the obstacles in these to claim the S-Rank Reward.

S-Rank Missions give 150,000 Ryo per Person involved!

PVP Missions
Someone missions require a touch of PVP instead of PVE. These missions are optional and do not give extra benefits other than rule of cool and PVP EXP bonuses instead of Mission based ones.

A-Rank PVP Missions
These are small-time Closed PVP Missions where two villages happen to be on opposing sides of a mission. One might be trying to kill the client while another might be trying to defend the client. Instead of the Mission Bonus you get a bonus for the closed PVP topic. Alternatively A-Rank PVP Missions could be secret tasks given by the Kage to a character that aren't listed on the site's mission board, but rather are handed out in PMs. Itachi's murder of the Uchiha Clan counts as one such mission.

S-Rank PVP Missions
These are bigger Open PVP Events correlating to something like a Staff-Sanctioned Village Attack. People attacking or defending the village will be given S-Rank Mission compensation. Alternatively S-Ranks can be tasks involving things that might spark a CHAOS Match in a village, like Jiraiya entering the Hidden Rain Village to investigate before getting caught by Pain and Konan.
